At the beginning of 2024, CGF participated in the inaugural meeting of the drafting team for the "Climate-Positive Building Design Standard", organized by Tsinghua University Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Beijing Lemon Tree Green Building Technology Co., Ltd., the meeting was held by a combination of the online and offline method.

Professor Li Zhengrong from Tongji University, researcher Chen Zhuolun from the United Nations Environment Programme Copenhagen Climate Centre, technical director Liao Longyan from DuPont (China) Research & Development Management Co., Ltd., senior engineer Ms. Jo Zou from Common Green Foundation in Canada, strategic design director Peter Sharratt from Phoras in the United Kingdom, senior research responsible Li Haifeng from East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., senior MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineer Li Ze from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), and marketing director Wang Zhigang from Youlu Market participated in this kickoff meeting online.

The participating experts unanimously agree that it is imperative to develop climate-positive building design standards that effectively address climate change. The standards will help identify climate risks faced by the construction industry and quantify the industry's impact on mitigating climate change based on the most advanced climate models available. They will also propose systematic solutions for the construction industry to address climate risks using state-of-the-art technology.
As the first domestic building design standard centered on climate positivity, this standard aims to provide architects and engineers with technical guidelines and design tools to address climate change, enhancing the understanding of climate risk issues among current decision-makers and practitioners in the construction industry. During the meeting, experts and the drafting committee extensively discussed the positioning, framework, indicator weighting, and key content of the standards, and put forward corresponding suggestions.
